This Army War College Strategy Research Project was written by U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Brett G. Lewis in 2006. This paper examines cultural competency and its role in U.S. military operations. A discussion of five key dimensions of cultural variability is addressed and how the variable can influence cross cultural communication.
