The U.S. Marine Corps CAOCL promotes a grasp of culture and language as

comprehensive studies of various cultures and their way of life.
University of Military Intelligence
The DLI Cultural Awareness Assessment (CAA) assesses familiarity with specific regional cultures. Knowledge of the target culture is measured in levels from 0+ to 2, on a scale developed from the DoD Regional and Cultural Expertise Guidelines. General topics include geography, religions, customs and basic phrases of the defining language of the culture. More detailed information on the government, economy, history, military, and security situation is also assessed.

CultureGrams
This site, developed at the Defense Language Institute by the Curriculum
Development Division, contains basic facts about the target country, followed by selected

Intercultural Management Institute provides customized training for effective
communication, negotiation and leadership across cultures. IMI offers workshops, academic
courses, and also conducts academic research on a wide range of intercultural topics.

The Peace Corps website provides a detailed cultural training and education
program for people desiring to work in and learn another culture as well as their existing "self
culture." The Publications section includes a significant "Workbook" titled "Culture Matters" that
can be used by any government agency to help build a Cultural Awareness Program.

including Cross Cultural Communication, Culture Shock, Reverse Culture Shock, Cultural Competency
and others through their online Library. The site provides further discussion including expanded
