The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) is taking a pause from conducting Mobile Training Teams (MTTs). MTTs have been a staple in many organizational training programs since the creation of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) function at DEOMI by the Defense Management Review Decision 974 of 1993. As we move forward searching for efficiencies during these times of limited personnel and a fiscally constrained environment, DEOMI is strategically pausing to assess where we are and how we can best support the Department of Defense. Some of this can be attributed in part to costs, the establishment of the new Resiliency Department, and DEOMI transformation initiatives.
The end state of this pause is to provide DEOMI's customers with enhanced strategies and tools that will lead to readiness and mission accomplishment. We plan to continue to communicate our progress as it evolves. The byproduct will be to further professionalize the Military Equal Opportunity Advisor, the Command Climate Specialist, and the EEO Practitioner which will require "all hands on deck" within the Institute and will necessitate DEOMI personnel focusing their efforts on the transition and in-residence training. At the end of the transformation many different methods of training will be deployed to maximize the learning experience and to minimize time on station and the cost of training for each student.
This pause is already in effect. No restart date for MTTs has been set at this time. We truly regret having to do this but want to give organizations time to readjust their training requirements and reassess their needs and their options. The DEOMI staff is more than willing to assist organizations in realizing options. During this transition, DEOMI is still conducting all their course offerings in the in- residence mode at Patrick AFB, Florida.
